What is Digital Commons?

• The Digital Commons is Longwood University’s Institutional Repository. Institutional Repositories (IRs) bring together all of a University’s research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research.
• IRs are an excellent vehicle for working papers or copies of published articles and conference papers. Included in the scope are presentations, senior theses, and other works. If you have questions, please contact either Mark Hamilton, Research and Digital Services Librarian, or Hope D. Alwine, Digital Initiatives Specialist.
• Work included in the Digital Commons is accessible via Google and major search engines, and becomes findable through the Digital Commons Network.

Submitting to Digital Commons 

• Please complete the Digital Commons Submission form to submit work for the Fall or Spring Showcase for Research and Creative Inquiry or the Graduate Research Symposium.

Joint Student/Faculty Projects 

If you are working on a joint project between students and faculty, please complete and sign the Digital Commons Student/Faculty Submission Form, and send it along with the project to digitalcommons@longwood.edu or to Mark Hamilton, Library 127.
