This place-based course explores how the U.S.-Mexico border shaped southern Arizona along three dimensions: culture, human society, and ecology. This is an immersive course that involves both class meetings on Longwood’s campus and travel to southern Arizona. Students will develop skills for active citizenship, including inquiry from multiple viewpoints, critical evaluation of information, and writing for a general audience.
