Federal Election Commission - Campaign Finance Downloadable Data The data available for download from this page range from zip files that contain individual contributions to political committees and may exceed 100 megabytes to single page summary pdf and xls files. While the largest files may be of interest primarily to campaign finance professionals there is much information here that could be useful for anyone trying to understand how money is raised and spent for the purpose of influencing federal elections.

Election Assistance Commission - Election Administration and Voting Survey For the first time, EAC is presenting the Election Administration and Voting Survey (EAVS) in one all-inclusive report that includes data on the ability of civilian, military and overseas citizens to register to vote and successfully cast a ballot. It is based on the results of a survey of all States, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The 2014 EAVS survey instrument is divided into two parts. The first part captures quantitative data pertaining to the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), and other election administration issues such as the counting of provisional ballots and poll worker recruitment. The second part is the Statutory Overview, which asks states a series of open-ended questions about their election laws, definitions, and procedures. This information helps the EAC and other stakeholders to understand the data provided in the first part of the survey, thereby providing a fuller picture of the landscape of U.S. election administration.
American National Election Studies Why does America vote as it does on Election Day? The mission of the American National Election Studies (ANES) is to inform explanations of election outcomes by providing data that support rich hypothesis testing, maximize methodological excellence, measure many variables, and promote comparisons across people, contexts, and time. The ANES serves this mission by providing researchers with a view of the political world through the eyes of ordinary citizens. Such data are critical, because these citizens' actions determine election outcomes.

Because ANES activities generate a sizeable amount of data, our experienced technical staff continually works to modify and enhance many aspects of study design, data collection, and data dissemination activities. By generating large, multifaceted datasets of high quality, the ANES will continue to equip researchers to learn new and important lessons about the world of politics. Through venues such as electionstudies.org, these data will be distributed widely and quickly to serve thousands of scholars and to be used in classrooms around the world to enrich research and education.
