National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
Honors the integral role that Hispanic/Latino people have played in shaping the United States culture and society and showcases the Hispanic Americans who have made great achievements in arts, science, sports, business, and government.

September 15: Marks the independence anniversaries for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
September 16: Celebrates Mexico's independence.
September 18: Commemorates Chile's independence.
October 12: Known as Día de la Raza or Indigenous Peoples' Day in some parts of the Americas, this day also falls within the month.
Different terms like Latino, Latina, Latinx, and Latine are also used when discussing "Hispanic Heritage Month," as they reflect the communities varied identities.
