Information about the Collection
The State Normal School for Women was the fourth iteration of the school which would eventually become Longwood University. Spanning the years from 1916 to 1924, substantive changes accompanied this change in name. During this period of time, the number of faculty increased significantly, academic offerings expanded, and the school’s teacher training program grew.

Provenance
It is unknown who produced this scrapbook or when it was acquired by Longwood University or the Greenwood Library Archives.

Scope and Content
This collection dates from 1909 and 1916-1920 and consists of (40) loose scrapbook pages and (27) photographs that were once attached to the scrapbook pages. The majority of content of the scrapbook as well as the loose photographs relate to students and faculty at [then] State Normal School for Women.

This collection consists of (40) loose scrapbook pages and (27) photographic images in archival photograph sleeves, contained in an archival photograph binder.

Notes
Overall, the condition of the scrapbook is fair, with the exception of some pages where photographs were separated from the scrapbook as well as some damage to individual photographs.

There are no restrictions to access or use for research purposes.
