Instructions for account registration and access to SciFinder.

SciFinder Access

SciFinder, produced by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), is the most comprehensive database for the chemical literature, indexing journal articles and patent records (and other document types), as well as chemical substances and reactions. You can search by topic, author, and substances by name or CAS Registry Number, OR use the editor to draw chemical structures, substructures, or reactions. It's a core research tool for chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, nanotechnology, physics, environmental science and other science and engineering disciplines.

SciFinder User Registration

First-time users of SciFinder must create a SciFinder user account.

  • Step 1:  Click here for the SciFinder user account registration page. 
  • Step 2:  Follow the instructions provided on the registration page. 
    • ​​​SciFinder REQUIRES your Longwood University e-mail address. 
      • or
  • Step 3:  To complete your registration, you must click on the confirmation link found within the SciFinder confirmation e-mail within 48 hours.
    • If the SciFinder confirmation e-mail does not show up in your inbox, please check your spam folder.
