Biographical Information
Martha Jane Bill was born in Roanoke, Virginia in 1892. She graduated from [then] State Female Normal School in 1914. While at the school Martha Bill was a member of the Pierian Literary Society, the track team, the Southwest Virginia Club, the Roanoke Club, the German Club, the Jefferson Debating Club, and the Ellen H. Richards Club. Additionally, she served as the 1914 Senior Class Treasurer. After graduation, Martha Bill worked for many years in the public schools in Roanoke County and from 1950 to 1965 was the Postmaster in the Pulaski, Virginia Post Office.

This collection was donated to [then] Longwood College in March 1984 by Martha Jane Bill.
Scope and Content
This scrapbook, originally organized by Martha Jane Bill, dates from 1912 – 1914, and includes photographs and handwritten notes. The majority of the photographs are of S.F.N.S. students and faculty taken in City Point, Virginia and in Farmville and surrounding areas. Other photographs are of soldiers at [then] Camp Lee in Hopewell, Virginia.

This collection consists of (26) loose scrapbook pages contained in archival sleeves in an archival photograph binder.
