The theme of this year's MLK activities is I Have a Dream ... Do You? Not only do the activities focus on the life of Martin Luther King Jr., they also support Longwood’s mission of citizen leadership.

A true symbol of social transformation, Coach Herman Boone, teacher and retired football coach, led the newly integrated football team at TC Williams High School to a state championship in 1971. These events are portrayed in the Disney film, "Remember the Titans." Inspiring his players and the coaching staff through hard work and inspiration, Coach Boone became an icon of social justice and now shares his stories of respect, teamwork, community involvement, and importance of character.
Coach Boone was born in Rocky Mount, NC and graduated from North Carolina Central University in 1958.
Please join us at 4:00pm in Jarman Auditoruim to hear Coach Boone speak on "Becoming A Titan." A dessert reception follows in the Rowe Gallery. This presentation is open to the public.
The Student Diversity and Inclusion Council, Lancer Productions, and the Black Student Association is sponsoring movie night as part of the MLK Symposium activities.
