Katrina and Global Warming

Jerome Ringo's hometown of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Ringo spoke about the disproportionate impace of global warming on people of color, including the devastation of Katrina, in "Nature's Fury, Man's Interference."

Ringo also addressed the Committee on House Transportation and Infrastructure of the U.S. House of Representatives as chair of the National Wildlife Federation on the Strategy for Rebuilding New Orleans on October 18, 2005.

For more information about Katrina and climate change, see Grist Magazine's Storm Front and Center: The Environmental Take on Hurricane Katrina.
